College Football Camera Test

Hey all! I just recieved the HVX last Friday, and shot this on Saturday to give the camera my first run through. I got on the field at my local college (ECU) football game, so here is some footage from that.

It was shot in 720p. Sorry I did not include any NAT sound. Only had time to throw a song underneath it. Here is a link to the video. It is compressed, and I apoligize if it takes a bit of time to download.

.....VERY NICE!....great color (Being a Vikings fan, I'm partial to purple and gold)...and the slow mo looked pretty damn cool.

Thanks man. I am really happy with the colors I am getting out of this camera. Focusing was tough on the LCD with all of the action, but it turned out ok. Now I have to resist overdoing the slow-mo (which is so tempting)!

use the viewfinder... turn it black and white. So much easier for focusing and exposure especially outside. Being an old Beta and Canon XL1 user... the transition was easy and it yield good results.. I'm downloading now..... does take a while but love football footie

Great colors indeed! Looks great with nice compositions. One shot was a bit too hot but good exposures all in all. Major props!

I hate to be the lone dissenter, but to me the colors were too rich, the skin tones in particular were too red for my taste.

I was not sure what to expect.....

I was not sure what to expect.....

Let me just say that looked amazing. Very nice work and the colors really popped. I liked the slow mo and nice coverage.

Excellent work.

That´s great and shows one unique selling point: variable framerates.

And the urple team made one heck of a playaction play. I was looking for the ball myself....lol

haha...some of it I tried to follow the plays up close, but I would get faked out and move to the person without the ball..

Great colours..although some people seemed very pink from time to time, still great stuff over all though, I was wondering the tackle that is repeated in slo-mo imediately after... was the slo-mo version of the tackle done in post, captured slo-mo and speeded back up in post?

Thanks for the comments. As for the clips you are reffering to, I shot it in slow mo, and sped it back up in post.

Stuart, I see you are in Durham, Great Britain. I want to get an interview with NT Wright for a documentary I am planning, who I believe is the bishop of Durham. Perhaps if I get access I will be in your location at some point.

cool Kevin, if u need any help just let Me know, I would be glad to help, and thanks for the reply, I was impressed yet bugged by how you did it.

I am damn impressed with the quality of that camera, wow... the colors.. the clarity. I do high school football highlight reels and if only I could afford one of those babies! Sunny weather always helps too!

Looks like this thread is going {again}. Nice work, Kev.

I loved that song - that is before NBC bought it.

Anyway - footage looks great and really makes ECU look good. Craziest damn tailgaters I've ever seen. And I live in Denver. Go figure. ECU tailgatin'.... NC BBQ, kegs, RV's, wild.
