Clothes Colors to Avoid?

I was going to shoot a group of people exercising outside and they all wanted to wear one color - Red. However, I've been reading that red patterns are bad for dot crawl - Do you think if they are wearing solid red tops as a group this will cause a problem (and probably be in front of some green lush background)? Any other color recommendations?

Thanks so much in advance...

That's a problem for SD, not so much a problem for HD.

Red against Green will make for the toughest color transition the HVX in HD or DVCPRO50 can handle it pretty well with its 4:2:2.

Red does seem to be a problem with the HVX. I shot a Red costume, recently, and noticed the same sort of compression blocks I used to get in DV. I was shooting off-speed in 720P - perhaps that had something to do with it (the way 720P is achieved - not the frame rate.)

I agree with Capt. Quirk. You should stay away from any kind of small repeating patterns just like stripes. You get what is called the moire effect which makes the patterns on the clothes look like they are moving independently. Happens when filming tv screens as well.
