I just finished my latest short film, "Closing Time":

A slightly off-kilter comedy with a twist...

Shot on the Canon 5DMkIII with a set of Zeiss CP2 Super Speeds.
Edited in Premiere CS6 and color graded with Magic Bullet Looks 2.

Please check it out. I would love any feedback or constructive criticism. Also I am open to any questions
about pre-production, production, or post (As well as fabrication of the puppets).

haha, that was pretty funny. AHH YES,,,, the good old beer goggles. I've tried on a pair once or twice. lol,,,,,,, On a tech. were you shooting wide open, or added diffusion ? I noticed significant ghosting/color fringing on the edge of the clothing, and different objects. Also thought there could have been more ambient sound, seemed a bit to quiet for a room with so many drunks in it. Other than my knit picks, it was great. A fun watch

Maranfilms,
Thanks! For the most part we did shoot wide open or pretty darn close to it. The ghosting you are seeing is actually from the diffusion added in post. I wanted to give an overly soft/dreamy feel to the pre-closing time bar. I used a couple filters from Magic Bullet Looks. Regular diffusion as well as a cosmo filter on the actress shots to soften her features even more. That is an interesting note about the ambient sound, I actually felt I may have left the 'walla' up a little too much and that it might have been distracting... Glad to know it wasn't.
