GH3 Clip Spanner for GH2/3

I am looking for a clip spanner utility to 'stitch' together clip from a single shooting segment without glitches at the file boundaries. When the clips are dropped onto the time line, there are often glitches between each clip. I have similar utilities that I use with my EX1 and C100 which work very well. I use a PC.

You should be using Media Browser to import your clip, instead of importing just the .MTS files. Hopefully you're not just copying the .MTS files out of the AVCHD folder structure either.

Would you mind elaborating on this? I've been doing just that for, well since the GH1 came out. No problems. I do use Tera Copy though when I make the transfers to catch any errors.

AVCHD files have a particular structure to get around the limitations of storage card media (4GB limit to the FAT system). When a file reaches 4GB, it spans to the next one. But header and metadata info still only exist in the beginning of the first file (and possibly the end of the last one in some cases), so if you grab one of the spanned files from the middle it will be missing that data and not play properly. The spanned files need to be stitched back together on media that supports larger than 4GB files (ie. your editing computer).

Ever wonder why those pesky .mts files are buried under so many weird directories? As I understand it, the developers of the format didn't want those files to be as directly user-accessible as, say, .mov files right in with your pictures, because they were afraid uneducated end users would just copy them out and lose the directory structure and file information that explained how to put the contents back together again the way they were supposed to be.

Now, if you've never recorded large enough files to span 4GB since your GH1 came out, than there is nothing wrong with copying them right out. I do that to save time usually too. But it can get very messy if you have any long recordings.
