Clip Naming

Could someone explain a little bit about how the camera creates its Clip Names / what does that 6-digit code mean? It looks like a random code of letters and numbers. There seems to be void of information about how to use the Clip Names to organize footage. All I've been able to glean is that I can assign a Clip Name in the metadata...

Thank you so much!

Hi,

The 6 digits are randomly generated by the camera so that you could have thousands of clips or hundreds of cameras generating clips and never have the same number be generated. This means that if you were to upload into a server without paying attention and never risk one writing over the other. This is the Universal clip name.

If on the PC you can put in a User name to the metadata by prepping it in the P2 Viewer. It is saved on the SD card and then you can upload that into the data that is saved with each clip. This is the User name and is not to be confused with the Universal clip name.

Hope that helps,

Jan

I understand that I have create a metadata upload file on an SD memory card in order to utilize the "User Name" function as you described. The HVX Manual (page 57) says to update the latest version of P2 Viewer at a website that does not seem to exist. Is this a typo?
