I just posted a short two minute clip from a feature length flick called 'Let's Make a Movie'. It's currently being shot over the summer and the plan is to have it finished by the end of the year.

Take a look!

Shot it with a DVX100b using an NTG-2 shotgun mic. It's my first shoot with the DVX, or really anything prosumer.

Enjoy!

aight...a bit of constructive critique.
1. framing on the firts shot is a bit off u cut off the car and the guy
2. U could have varied that first shot with some other angles eg. low angle of the car drving to a stop infront of the camera. cut back to ur wide.
3. the reaction shot of roberts frustration (lol..i like his reaction) should really have been a Close up so we see it well or even medium if u dont want the cut 2 be 2 jarring. then u can cut back.
4.the discussion 2 shot really needs to be varied with some OTS (over the shoulder)shots. this will give u the opertunity to vary shots between the type of OTS (CU. medium, long shot) and also give u the oppurtunity to get a shallow depth of field (which makes it look more filmic). Zoom in and open that iris. use ur shutter and ND filter to deal with exposure so u can get shallow depth of field. As it stands now that dialogue part is quite uninteresting to the eye and also everything looks to be on the same focal plane ie. everything looks flat.

When composing ur shots try to think about everything in the frame. and how to use it to ur advantage to make the frame looks 3 dimensial. place sumthing in the forground so its out of focus or try to get that shallow dop i spoke about above. Read up on some framing :)

5. i like robert and his reactions...i think u cut a bit 2 fast when he reacts sarcastically. lol...that part is funny though:)

U also have souund issues however thats not my forte...so i cant help that much there.just get the mic in as close as u can and ADR those wide shots.

wasnt by any means ripping this apart but just trying to help as u say u want to make a feature . hope this helps.

Awesome! Thanks a lot for all that advice. Yeah, I had a problem with the sound. A lot of the conversation overlapped, so it was hard to edit it smoothly. But thanks for the advice on framing the shots. I may reshoot this if we have time, to spice it up. Or just shoot some extra stuff to add to it.
