I believe this is my first post and so howdy.

http://theater.suntropolis.com/scene117-119.html

shot with the panasonic dvx100 using the anamorphic lens and edited in premiere 6.5. clips encoded in windows media encoder (windows media 9) and quicktime 7 (H.264/AAC).

this is a rough edit. the audio needs to be worked (ADR) and the video needs to be 24fps. must say though excellent "boom" job by my 1st AD Oliver Tosh. if it weren't for the external noise during the doorway shot. i wouldn't need to do ADR.

Not too shaby!

i really liked the editing and framing. For the quality of sound, id have to say that yeah it was pretty consitant throughout so it made it much easier to stay in tune. The acting however was a little poor, but in terms of behind the camera, great stuff :)

any CC ?

The lighting seemed pretty white and some of the shots could have been a little tighter...

thank you papa. we went through a few takes and now i see the need to have somebody really hard-nosed on continuity. there were takes i couldn't use because the actors movements didn't match...ah but this is about the camera...all done on a tripod. what looks like the use of a dolly is actually the tripod sitting on a small board (each leg) with casters. so i can change directions at any time and it all stays quite smooth. no need for tracks. for audio...a shure pg57 is connected via XLR.

as for video editing. there isn't any color correction. it's all as is.
as for audio editing. nothing was processed. at the beginning the "doorbell" and "the matrix" were added to the track. the "doorbell" got medium room reverb.

BCOB...

my fault. i white balanced the camera with the room lights on. except for the doorway. you can see a hint of yellow outside in the doorway. i had a light mounted with a yellow gel to match the actual outside light/sconce. as for "tight" do you mean timing or framing?

Framing..... some of the conversation on the couches could have used some tighter framing to give it a more serious feel.

What mic are you using? If the boom work was good, then it must have been a sub-par mic.

Cool vid, though.

BCOB...gotcha.

LeSeulGiraffe...mic listed above. thanks for the insult :undecided , but we've shot 10 days of stuff and the guy that was operating the mic for some reason was moving too much and you can hear the cable or his grip changing on the pole, something, but my 1st AD who's not the mic operator gets clean audio...that says something. by the way off topic...i was in lafayette in 1998 for the AAU 14&under basketball championships. very nice folks and dare i say go cajuns.

dvpixl...i hope that's a good thing.

First off, welcome to dvxuser novelt

I think dvpixl was saying dramatizations like they have on unsolved mysteries or americas most wanted? :P

I also agree with bcob with tighter framing, you could have brought the camera in closer. Also on the shot of them coming in and sitting down, I think you could have tilted up/down with them. they had their heads "chopped off" or maybe you could have used a different angle and cut it there.

This is all an opinion of a newbie(me) with the cam as well so what do I know?

slinks...thanks for the welcome and one thing about the framing all though it's not that much different, what's being seen is the full frame. what was actually shot or seen in the monitor was a bit tighter as well as what lies in the action safe area...however i still have the option of cropping. as for the walking into the room. the scene actually starts with them at the door, but i edited it to the foyer shot then the living room shot.
