CLIP BROWSER 2 & the Sandisk Ultra IIs...slooooooooow

It is taking me 5 minutes to a minutes video to either convert from the cards to mxf to an external HD or to import the files into the clip browser 2.

I have a Dell M90 with 4 gig of ram....I could shoot video and play it back realtime and record it faster than this.

Same speed when going directly to the C drive btw.
Funny because it shoots quick through the first 10-15% then slows right down.

Try a different USB port or a different SD card reader.
Remember when you copy your progress bars arn't typically linear, short clips are smaller so copy across quick but when you hit a big clip it appears to slow down, but its just copying more across so it naturally takes longer.

Thanks Guy but it isn't a USB reader which I would understand.....it's the Kensington directly into the express slot on the side of the Dell M90 laptop.

I have already ordered two more 16gig cards but boy if it is this slow then I am going to bite the bullet later on and get a 32gig SxS....seen them for USD849 today

It should take about 15min to offload a full 16GB card plus/minus a few variables etc
If you need faster, you could consider the Extreme 30MBps card as long as you got a reader that supported its read speed (not many will).

Otherwise, yes, I guess this is exactly why there is, and will be for some time, a market for SxS media.

Ok so at 15 minutes for a 50 minute card that would mean a minutes video should copy/transfer in no less than 30 seconds for a minutes video.

Sandisk Ultra II 16GB Class 2/15mb per second in aKensington 7 in 1 Reader
This is being read by my express slot in my M90

Why would I be getting such a slow transfer....5 minutes + for a 1 minute clip??
I know SxS are faster but according to your stats this can't be right.
Who do you go to though.....Dell, Sandisk??

This is strange....when I plug the Kensington into the express slot on the laptop I get the old
"This can USB Device can perform faster if you connect it to a Hi-Speed USB port. For a list of Available ports, click here".
This must be why I am getting these read/write speeds.....why isn't the laptop recognising it as a high speed connection?

yea, sounds like the adaptor is connecting in USB1 mode (about 1/10 the speed)

Well thanks as always Guy for your input and feedback.

I went into the Bios and I don't know how but the setting was on 1.1.
PCs are like Robots with minds of their own sometimes.

Speed is back up where it needs to be now.....am Rockin'.
Would be good to have the flexibility of a 32GB SxS though and so will probably get one later.

Now if I could only settle on some Picture Profiles.

I just offloaded from a sandisk ultra 2 16gb and 56 minutes of footage took exactly 14 minutes and 50 seconds
