you'll probably want to get different lav mics if you're going for movie makin. the lavs that come with the sennheiser kit work, but aren't ideal for those purposes. tram tr50 or countrman b6 are good ones for concealing under clothing.

If you can afford all that more power, but yeah replace the stock lavs on the senns with Countryman or Trams. And the G2 is the bare bottom for professional wireless LAVs, I assume you aren't doing any big movies or commercials =)

Get more XLR cables 100ft is - long. Nice. But trust me you'll want some shorter ones too and can never have enough imo, 50ft is the workhorse for many situations, and I have use for all sizes.

And the MKH 416 don't view that as a universal mic, it's not.

And the boompole personally you can do MUCH better for similar price. Use carbon-fiber or graphite, internal wiring is nice but definitely NOT needed I prefer not actually, but that's me and also that's more expensive.

300 isn't a bad price. But there are ones cheaper other places similar size/carbon-fiber. LENGTH is WEIGHT (thus component) is essential for a lasting boompole.

It's a great short shotgun, but I think he means don't expect it to solve everything, especially indoors. You'll probably want to add a hyper for indoors, like an AKG Blueline, or even an Oktava MK012.

Thank you Junk... Which Mic are you saying is more universal than the MKH 416?

Agreed - but consider the Sennheiser MKE 2-ew as well. These are *much* better than the stock ME2 supplied with the kits and come with the correct connector for the G2 systems (they also have an "umbrella" diaphragm to protect against moisture.

For semi-pro work I normally recommend the G2 500 series as you have more frequencies and the output is fully balanced. The next step up from these is a lot more money, though.

Agreed, carbon fibre or grahite is much better (eg: Lightwave G-5) - the internal cable seems to be more of a USA thing, the UK prefer a simple pole and wrap the cable round the outside.

Personally, I would look at a different recorder. If you can't afford the likes of the new Nagra LB or Sound Devices, I would look at the Fostex FR-2 or Tascam HD-P2 (but I'm getting the Nagra VI :D ).
