Clearest frame rate?

I'm shooting an ultra short commercial. The final export needs to be 320x240. There will be 9 squares in the video player (kind of like the brady bunch intro) so I need it to look as ultra clear as possible and can't afford to get an hd card. What frame rate would you recommend? 60i? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Whatever you do, don't shoot interlaced at all. Shoot 30p or 24p (p is for progressive) and the output will look much sharper on HDTV's and LCD monitors. Either frame rate should work fine as long as you don't slow the shutter speed too much and create too much motion blur.

Interlaced video only gives you half of the clarity of progressive video because it only displays half of the scan lines at any given moment. It's only purpose is to be compatable with older CRT TVs. Shooting progressive is the main thing you need to do. Also, make it a point to make sure you render out to a progressive codec as well.

Matt,

I agree with John -- shoot progressive whenever your output is going to be for the web. What camera are you shooting with? I assume from your original post, that your camera is not an HD camera?

I'd recommend shooting 30p or 24p if your camera can do it.
