Make sure the T-Shirt is 100% cotton and been washed at least once to get the lint out. I use baby diapers, preferably unused (hard to get baby poo off the LCD) and no huggies. Baby diapers, washed several times, are the bomb.

You misunderstand me. A "new" T-shirt is clean. But it has lots of cotton linters on it (which is the fuzz that comes off in the dryer and ends up in the screen). A washed t-shirt has none of these annoying fibers.

Of course, the T-shirt your 325 lb hamburger munching grip is currently wearing is probably not a good idea.

More than perfect. The more they get washed, the softer they are, and the less lint they have.

Re: cleaning the LCD

Well, I never really figured people would buy a new T-shirt to clean their LCDs . . . ;)

Re: cleaning the LCD

I use clean used T-shirt to clean the GPS & TFT instrument displays in my plane, one thing that I’ve noticed is that shirts that have been dried with fabric softener do more harm than good.

Just what I noticed… :-/

Makes sense. Fabric softener unravels fibers in cloth, making it appear "softer" but allowing lint to come loose and (and also aging the clothing). I might suggest washing shirts with no detergent at all in addition, but I think the average washer does a good job of getting it out.

Re: cleaning the LCD

Did you ever try transparant Scotch (or other brand) tape? Slightly stick it onto the LCD. Pull it off and dirt and fingerprints will be gone.

Re: cleaning the LCD

I LCD cleaners from staples, I think the alcohol eats the plastic screen slowly and dulls it.

No, but I have used high quality gaff to clean the camera case of sand. (low quality lets the sticky crap off).

Re: cleaning the LCD

Try using a microfiber cloth, you can get them at any camera store for about $5 and they are made not to scratch the surface of lenses. I was shooting this past weekend and got a few smudges on the LCD, I used the micro cloth and it polished everything right back to its original look no fluids needed.
Hope this helped!

Re: cleaning the LCD

I just bought one of those cloths yesterday at the computer store. I think it is called a screen cleaning cloth but it worked! I didn't have to use any kind of liquid substance on my LCD screen. I just used the cloth and polished the screen and the smudges were gone.

Re: cleaning the LCD

i appreciate it guys. i dont even have a LCD on my pc, just a giant 19" CRT, so i am an LCD virgin.

i have a micro fiber cloth already so i will jsut use that - thanks!

Re: cleaning the LCD

Hey,

I am in Bhutan (a small Kingdom in Asia) and I cannot seem to find any microfiber clothes. I tried cleaning my lcd with an old moist and clean t-shirt but it just made things worst. I then used my Lens Cleaner liquid with the lens cleaning paper. The result was not much better. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what I could do.

Thanks,
Yue
