Cleaning the HVX?

My HVX-200 has been sitting on a tripod not used for many months. It is now quite dusty.

1. What is a good way to give it a thorough cleaning? What kind of cloth should i use to not be abrasive? What type of cleaning solution?

2. What about the LCD? Is the same type of solution used for my Mac screen good for this?

thanks!

Not for the LCD but the Filmtools.com suction cup cleaner ($2.99) on a microfiber cloth is pretty damn good, is a anti grease or oil chemical that restores plastic / rubber (great for the eye piece) and dries with no oil residue. Good stuff. Just keep it away from the LCD.

Unless it is loaded with extremely stubborn dirt, Panasonic recommends a mild dilluted dish detergent on a damp soft cloth for most of the body parts. This could probably also apply to the LCD, The eyecup should only be cleaned using some type of air duster to blow away dirt and not wiped at all. Check page 127 of the HVX user manual.

If you are planning to leave your camera sitting exposed on a tripod for any length of time, you may want to put a plastic kitchen garbage bag around it when not in use!
