GH4 Cleaning the GH4 sensor

I have the Arctic Butterfly cleaning kit for my 5D MKIII. I have been shooting outdoors with a lot of lens changes in the wind with the GH4 so I assume at some point, my sensor will exhibit spots/dust. Is it safe to use the Arctic Butterfly with the GH4 sensor? I have the magnifier with the LED light and the Butterfly, it worked GREAT with the 5D MKIII. Anyone know for a fact? What are you using to clean your sensor?

I just watched the whole video and ordered one of these kits.

I've been using Visible Dust cleaning fluids and their sensor swabs (same size for APS-C sensors works for m4/3 also), as well as Photographic Solutions sensor swabs and Eclipse cleaning fluid. First time I did a wet cleaning it scared me half to death (Canon T2i came from the factory LOADED with a heavy layer of dust on the sensor). Followed the instructions that came with the Visible Dust products and it took 2 swabs, total of about 8 drops, and the sensor was clean.

Whatever method the use of a sensor loupe is well worth the cost.

But this Sensor Gel Stick looks super effective.

It is indeed a great, easy and very effective way of cleaning camera sensors. When I first ordered one I didn't feel confident because it looked too good to be true (similar to one of those old infomercials). In reality it performs amazingly when used properly.

Interesting, first I have heard about this product. I like it better than the Arctic Butterfly, it seems as if it would do a better job with those stubborn little pieces of dirt and dust that don't come off as easily.

I too, never heard of this product until seeing the link above.

I don't have the Arctic Butterfly so have no first hand knowledge on it. I do have Photographic Solutions Sensor Brush that you "bleed off" any electrical charge by grounding a lead from it, then "knock" the shaft hard enough to cause it to release any particles before use. It supposedly will then attract and pick up dust off the sensor.

It does work to a fair degree.

But this Sensor Gel Stick does look to be a more effective and still safe cleaning method. I'm really hoping it will be a safe way to clean the sensor on those cameras like the OMD E-M5 and GX7 that have "sensor shift" IBIS. I took the statement that it has been used and proven safe on Olympus cameras to mean just that.

I guess I’ve been lucky, I’ve owned a Canon 5D Mark 11 a Panasonic GH2, GH3, and now a Gh4 so far I’ve not had occasion to clean a sensor in any of them. If I did need to I would use an air bulb, such as the Giottos Rocket Blaster and try to blow the dust particles off the sensor.

With now my 5th generation GH body since '09, and only a handful of dust spots needing an air blast and nothing more.

That and total freedom from CA changed my life in going to Panny from Canon, where every PP session started with spotting and CA correction.
