So I was on trip and doing some filming on the beach and got to close to a wave that splashed my DVX. Now the focus rings is all gummed up with salt and I wanted to know if anyone knows how to take off or clean it, please let me know. Thanks.
Try compressed air in a can to get in between the ring. As far as I know, you cannot take it off. Another thing is to go to the bottom of the camera and unscrew the whole bottom plate. Then there is a small opening by the front of the camera where you can see the zooming gears. Some salt might be in there so spray the air in there as well.
You may want to send the camera in to a service center for a thorough cleaning.
We do not reccommend trying to disassemble the focus ring yourself, there is a ribbon cable in there that if damaged requires replacement of the entire lens assembly.
