I just tried the panny Cleaning Tape and it didnt display time code, just a break. It hit play and let it roll for 10 seconds. Did it actually run even though no timecode was rolling?
The cleaning tape is NOT recordable media, so you can't have timecode on. yes, it rolled, even if it didn't display anything. You can check if tape rolls - there's a small window on the cassette compartment... One more thing, 10 sec seems a bit too much, I'd go for 4-5 sec if there's a stubborn dirt on the heads which wouldn't came off with cleaning fluid and then in 3 sec increments.
