Cleaning particulate out of HVX EVF

Hi all:

Does anyone know how to somewhat disassemble the HVX EVF so that dust or particulate can be cleaned out of it? I tried to take it apart today and it seems like after removing the rubber eyecup, there is nothing else to take apart to get to it.

My camera was recently exposed to a helicopter landing near it and blowing tons of dust into it. Took it in for service and everything was cleaned but I guess that this dust slipped down after it was cleaned.

I actually use the EVF quite a bit so I want to get this taken care of as I hate seeing these chunks of dust over my picture.

Any advice?

With all of the amazing DIYers here, nobody has tried to clean out dust from their EVF? I guess another trip to The Video Clinic may be required to do this. It's a shame, on many cameras, the EVF is fairly easy to take apart to clean out dust but the HVX's seemed to be sealed up from any tampering.

Unfortunately not sealed up enough to keep dust from entering though ;-(

Carefully remove the rubber eyepiece. It's held on with four plastic tabs. So kind of jus tlift the edges up and pull it off.

Then hold the EVF body itself really, really, REALLY tightly with your left hand (if right handed) and hold on to the part that the rubber eyepiece came off of with your right hand tightly as well. Then, turn the EVF window piece counter clock-wise until it feels like it's going to break. It snaps off and now your ready to clean the lens inside.

Hi Andrew:

Thanks for he advice!

Hopefully I can get this right, it does seem like a small item to bring it in for service for.

All my best,

Dan
