Class10 SDHC (Panny's free card)

I got a free 8 GB SDHC, which of course took 10 months of back and forth to finally receive via my Panasonic Rebate... when I popped it in, my camera can't shoot in PH mode... It's a Class 10 card!

Firmware update? Is it worth the trouble? I hear it's risky? Is the 8 GB card going to be my new thumb drive?
 
There's no problem with the update....easy & painless. I've never had any problems.
Funny thing is, I got 16 GB class 10 card for free?
 
Yes there's a firmware update, execute it and the class 10 card will work just fine.

Your camera was produced before class 10 existed, so it doesn't know how to recognize it. The firmware update fixes that issue.
 
I bought 2 HMC-150's in October 09....

you guys are all bastahds for getting a 16 Gig! I bought mine in April of 2009 and I just got the 8 GB.

Only reason I ask about the firmware update— is because I've heard of people getting totally screwed... where if the firmware update has an error during the update, the camera needs to be sent in to panasonic... I can't afford to take the risk, so for now I'm just using my 2 16 GB cards, and the 8 GB one I got for free is going to be my thumb drive!
