F55: Class 10 SD cards with adapter in the F55

I seem to recall someone saying that even though they are not suggested that SxS cards will work for 24fps in the F5/F55.

Has anyone tried Class 10 SD cards with an SxS adapter in the F55? What were the results?

How about at higher frame rates?

I have written about use of regular SXS cards in the past but never tried Class 10 SD cards with adapter.

My findings (although not recommended for use according to Sony) on the F55 is the older orange/silver sxs-1 cards work for 24p and 30p in 4k but nothing higher (camera locks up). I'm also using the blue/silver SXS pro cards and they will record 4k 60p no problem but I've only done short spurts.

Dennis, do you have one of the good SD cards (fast reading and writing, some are just fast reading) and an adapter to give it a whirl? [Funny enough I bought one of the Sony 64gb class 10 SD cards and while it reads at 40 it only writes at 20. You need it to write at 40 or more.]

Boghav said "I am however sucessfully using the XQD cards with Sony's adapter to record HD mpeg 422. Rated between 125 and 168 Mbs depending on the card used, it's a much faster alternative(downloading) than the slower SDHC cards. Sony said they'd be fully supported in another firmware update."

I'm using XQD with the Sony SxS XQD adapter and everything is fine (so far). The other adapters for SD I've tried don't work. I heard that they really do USB and not Express Bus.

Cheers.

Duke, you buying F55?

I've been talking to Abel Cine about one. I think I'd have to sell off my Zeiss standard speeds and my F3 to do it, and I have some booking for the F3. With my luck I'd lose the 0% financing before I'm ready.

If XQD reliably handled 4k 24p I'd be happy.

I think with the card and adapter you sourced you should be able to shoot as high as XAVC 422 or SR 444 in 2k, but you'd have to try.
