clarity on the recent P2 pricing rumors

has anyone been able to pin down the guys with the info mentioned at the paris show. i think the thread mentioned a major price decrease coming. i am sorry i cannot seem to find that thread for a week or so ago. any new news guys?
 
I have heard no news but I would guess that any major price decrease should come right before the HVX release. If Panasonic has a major price drop after the HVX is released many people who bought some P2 with the camera will be weary of purchasing P2 cards for fear of an immediate major price drop.

At least this is how I see it. :)
 
wabbit that is a good point.
if they sell the first load for 1700 per card and then drop the price they will absolutely destroy their customers trust. either they drop the price before (or with the camera´s release) or they wait at least 3-6 months to do so (when the next size turns up?!).

since the HVX is also a way to push P2 i assume they will give good bundle deals we cannot turn down ;-)
 
i agree but the bundle deal they seem to be offering doesn't seem all that great. at 5995 for the cam (msrp) then 2 8gig at 1700 is not a real deal at 9995. maybe my math isn't up to the standards of panny but this just doesn't add up.

On the Pana booth the HVX-200 had all "the rage" around it / it was like the other cameras where forgotten / you could feel the hype

I can confirm,( because I heard the Panasonic head of the delegation) that their bundles Cam+ xP2 (capacity depending on bundle) + their external store drive (AJ-PCS060 P2 Store Drive) will be VERY interesting ! ( much much more cheaper than the aditionnal value of the separate elements)
