Dear all,

It happened tonight.

I turned on my dvx100a, heard two "clac...cac" from inside the camera and that was it.

Since that my camera can not focus, auto or manual gives the same result: Nothing, black screen.........

Any ideas ?

I am stuck in a small remote country in the middle of nowhere and I am wondering if a 2 days trip to the closest panasonic shop is worth...

black screen? i;ve heard about the dreaded blue screen...duno bout this. usually any noise from in the camera comes from the OIS when the cam is turned off. this is clearly not the case...looks like u need to take that to service.

aaaaarg, that's bad!

I tried again today..... same noise at start and then the first time the image was just totally blur and then it is just black..... nothing....

Is it normal, when the camera is off, when I movie it up and down (vertical rotation0 that I can hear something moving in it, like a clap or so ?

Is the entire LCD/EVF black with no other indicator stuff or is just the image black? That seriously sucks though. You could try to just send it out rather than just go to the place.

Thks jordini. I was wondering if that was linked to the big CLAC CLAC I can hear when I switch it on......

Well, the image in the LCD is all black but all the normal indicators are there... and work, when I try to zoom or focus the indicators seem to give the right info... but screen remains black.

hmmm... all the indicators are there...wierd. this may sound dumb and basic but just to rule it out...what is ur shutter, iris and ND filters set to?? since u can see the indicators. I remember once when i just got the cam and i turned it on and i just saw black...freaked for a sec then checked those stuff. So check the things that affect ur exposure just to be sure.

Hi,

yes it records audio, no pb.

ND filters off, auto iris...... well the worst, if I turn it on/off 100 times, there will be 1 or 2 times when I can see a totally blur pict, manual focuss won't give any results..... and the other 98 times just black screen.

I think it's dead...........

Well,

I contacted Panasonic and they told me it is probably the lens unit, they can change it for a bir more than 1000.00 USD !!!!!!

Think for this price I should better invest in a new one, what do you think ?

https://www.pstc.panasonic.com/Epartr/PartslistChoice.asp

Enter AG-DVX-100 in Search by Model # on the right.

scroll to find ur part

Who u gonna get to actually fix it if u do get the part? Will it be much cheaper than sending it out?
Secondly u dont know for sure if thats the problem...they told u its probably that based on what u told them over the phone...u'd need someone to check it out to be sure. Doesnt make sense buying a part and u dont know for sure if thats what it needs.

I say get another one used in good condition. Plenty around.

Thanks for your answer again.

After a night of relexion, I will go for the solution that comes with a warranty, whether the repair by panasonic if they warranty it whether buying a new one with a warranty....
