City Museum

Here's a montage I threw together quickly of my family at the City Museum in St. Louis, all shot with the GH1. Full specs at Vimeo. If you're in or near STL, you owe it to yourself and your family to check out the museum. It's an indescribable environment created by an artist from recycled materials. EVERYTHING is made from something recycled, weird and/or awesome.

Thanks for watching,
Ron

Looks like fun! Nice shooting and editing. The OIS seemed to work pretty well on those walking shots (assumed you used it).

Vaguely dangerous?!! What's up with that rope hanging from the ceiling cage at 00:45? Watched it several times to see what kind of pads were underneath. Was that a huge rubberized safety net-like floor underneath? The way you edited it (on purpose maybe) it at first looked like just a regular floor. Even so, that would be a pretty good fall from the top. Fun!

Actually most of the walking shots are with the old manual Nikon 28mm pressed hard against my eye. With some practice, you can get decent handheld moving shots as long as the lens is pretty wide. But yes the OIS on the Lumix lens is indeed very good. Almost everything about the lens is amazing: OIS, quiet and naturalistic autofocus, color rendition. If it just wasn't so dang sloooooooooow!

It's not as dangerous as it looks really. The cage at the top of the dome and the rope are 2 different activities. You can't climb out of the bottom of the cage. No one was on the rope, but when you swing on it something creates a spooky audio tone that echoes throughout the structure. The cage is accessible from the top of the dome through one of the metal wire tunnels. Keep in mind, this whole section is on the roof of an old 11 story manufacturing building! I will probably do another short movie, because I have lots of other footage.
