Is this not what the firestore does, but for twice the price?
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Excellent Sanjin, thx!... [with or without academic degrees, you are always a great dvxuser.com member as an important contributor, too]

...nevertheless the previous Barry's info regarding CitiDISK user's reviews...

Well, what can we expect now concerning this product, Barry? Is it possible hear you? Can you test it?

Two/three months before than the competition is a LOT!

I just can confess that for me it may be a good purchase but only with Barry's superior OK. I'm sorry considering who doesn't think the same if there is who...

after reliability issues w/ 2 quickstreams, i'll wait until there is user feedback. i still have nightmares of doing a shoot only to find out there is nothing in the hard drive...

Well, I personally don't recommend the CitiDisk products, but maybe they've managed to get things right with this new product (hopefully).

CitiDisk has just been far too unreliable in the past to be able to safely recommend them. As boo mentioned, returning from a shoot to discover nothing actually recorded on the drives is not a pleasant experience. Sure you can check in the field during the shoot, but having to dick with the drive to get it to work during a shoot is rarely acceptable.

Hopefully they get it right with this one, but I couldn't ever trust one wholeheartedly.

Boo's experience is all too familiar to quickstream/citidisk users.

I welcome the notion that they're developing a product, but I must say that there is absolutely NO ROOM FOR ERROR.

I have no idea if I'll get one to test. I'll be glad to do so, but I'm sure there will be many others who will offer their expert opinions as well. I certainly hope it works reliably -- it would be nice to have a solution that's half the price of the FireStore, and two months sooner as well. But their past track record does not leave me too optimistic.

Thanks harlan! (BTW, I will be calling you@PM as soon as necessary)

Well, FireStore is the way, isn't it? 'cause about CinePorter is also a mistery regarding reliability, right?

Thanks Barry, as always!...your opinions rock!

 Please, test it! Update us what's your plans in order to have it! 'cause if you don't test it, CitiDISK will lost a lot of potential costumers...

compared to competition... CinePorter seems insanely expensive... $2199?!

Remember, you can't capture directly to the Citidisk, I spoke to a sales rep. at DV expo and he stated that this is just an offload device, not a live capture device.

Well, compared to the competition, a VariCam seems insanely expensive when you can get that Sanyo HD MPEG-4 camera for $799, right?

Thing is, they're not directly comparable. And I fear that the CitiDisk won't be directly comparable to the FireStore or CinePorter. If it is, then great. But if it isn't, then no amount of price savings would be worth losing your footage, would it?

If you check out the website info you'll see that it only captures standard dv, and archives hd. :(

Wow! That was easy to misread! Once you read it carefully though, it only mentions recording DV streaming!!
