Cinetastics Mattebox Filter Issues - Help...

When I was in India shooting with the Cinetastics Mattebox I got burned. My fault for not checking in the viewfinder, but I shoot a lot of handheld and was using 4x4 filters. I thought I was okay with the flip out, but it was not until I went to post did I see the 4x4 filter element in the corners. This was from the filter and how it fits (or lack of "fits") into the mattebox. I shove them in as far as I can get it in and still struggle with the filter in the frame. Am I doing soemthing wrong? It feels very unnatural to shove the velcroed filter into the mattebox. Anybody else using the same system and have any wisdom?

I have a jpeg pic, but can't seem to post...

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
FD

I use the cokin A (72m x 72 m and the small holder to keep the filter close to the lens. Some vignetting can occur. I have a screw on UV filter and the 72mm slim adapter for the Mattblox and I don't reduce zoom below Z7. With the filter holder you may have to use Z10-12 to eliminate vignetting depending on whether you have a screw-in filter in place befor the adapter ring for the Mattblox.

I have a simple check list that I run through to check my camera settings before each shoot and it includes a reminder about the Zoom setting for the Mattblox. The product is good for the price but at time it can be cumbersome to use filters.

The DVX LCD on my 100b is underscan so if you look carefully it's possible to see vignetting. I don't think the 100 or 100a were underscan.
