Cinescore - What do you think?

I would be very interested in it, but I listened to the samples and nothing there is very cinematic, which I what I want. If you would use that kind of music, I think it would be great.

I wouldn't get it.

I wouldn't get it.

Seem's like it is more for the customer that doesn't have Vegas..I guess it is good for simple soundtracks but it is limited in it's ability compared to a lot of editors. Seems like a marketing equivalent to soundtrack pro for MAC. More for the consumer market like the Vegas movie studio. For the Mac people it is definitely not Logic nor protools.

smithy,

I don't think it is trying to be Logic or PT, I think it is more along the lines or Garage Band more then anything, but geared more toward movie sound tracks.

Sorry, but that's like saying "an orange is not up to par with an apple" or "a hammer is not up to par with a saw". Cinescore and Logic are two entirely different tools. Whether one is better than the other really depends on what you want to do. In terms of functionality or approach, it's not really even like GarageBand or Acid.

Cinescore's main function is to generate music from preset themes (or compositions). All of the included themes also have several variations which change the mood of the theme (using different instruments, etc.). Many of the variations radically change the feel of the theme so that one variation doesn't sound to much like another (this is good). IMHO, one of the main advantages of Cinescore is that it will generate a fleshed-out composition that has a beginning, middle, and end, regardless of the duration desired by the user (this is good). That means your score will sound deliberate and refined (also good). You can also further customize any theme by adding hints to the timeline which indicate how you'd like the music to evolve over its duration. This allows you to create a score that more closely matches your video.

If anything, Cinescore seems to fall in the same category as Sonicfire Pro, but I'd really need to test out both apps more in-depth to see what the actual differences are.
