Cineroid SDI and Abel's base plate.

Well, got the last few pieces of the puzzle.

Abel's base plate is just perfect. (Nice going Mitch and ET.) Well built, mounts to both center and "that one offset" mounting hole.
Shoulder pad is holding tight with the magnets. Feels like a real camera, balance is pretty much perfect!
Cineroid is all metal! Even the hood and eye loop is. Menu is pretty extensive all the stuff we need. Not too heavy. It would still be better with a higher res screen but...it will work fine, for what it is. Has a nice lemo for power from d-tap. One complaint, not that I will use it, but the battery can pop off pretty easy from it's position. Nice having, easy quick feature buttons on side.(All program-able) And the size is just right, not too big , not too small. Going to work fine for me. (disregard the extra long rods in back, still need cut short.)

"Shoulder pad is holding tight with the magnets" Really? Magnets? Sorry , but this borders on the insane. Magnet in a bag with recording media,
and VERY sensitive electronics - I don't think so. Why do you think they make those cameras from magnesium and aluminum and use stainless steel fasteners? Magnets will rust too. BAD idea!

The media isn't magnetic.

It is solid state.

And there is plenty of shoulder plate between the magnets and the electronics.

This is Abel, did you not think they thought this through?

They won't affect the imaging tubes either. ;)

Are you ABSOLUTELY sure? Then why are the cables shielded? Electromagnetic or magnetic - I am VERY skeptical nevertheless.

A magnets will not effect the camera or recording in any way. We have mechanical and electrical engineers at both AbelCine and Element Technica. This design was tested thoroughly. It is similar to what we use on the Vision Research Phantom Flex, and this design has been available for more than a year.

The magnets are chrome alloy coated and will never rust. The rest of the riser is anodized and will also never rust.

JD, thanks for the kind words. Glad the products work for you.

We really did think this out and we and ET have been doing this for some time.

Mitch, you are selling the stuff - what else would you say... I my experiance - magnets are wonderfull things, but keep them FAR away from
electonics. Even the ones on the fridge.

Just noticed that 5 of your 17 posts either have something to do with the Smart Assembly system, or are defending it. Do tell, do you have any connection with the company?

Just strikes me as strange to be arguing with the fact that Abel Cine and Element Technica know what they're doing - both companies have been around for quite a long time, and everything I've gotten from ET has been top notch (and purchasing through Abel has been good too). I think if magnets were going to cause an issue (they shouldn't), they'd have figured it out.
