Cinemorph Anamorphic-ish Filter

I know you are selling this nice lens, that is why i do not understand how you can oppose on the same page a nice piece of technology with a relative cheap price, and that ring at such a silly high price (IMHO)
you even said that we can find cheap lens on the web to go with the ring, and you are right, there are nice lens for $50 to 100, not even half the price of the filter-
again, it could be just me, but i am the kind of guy that become skeptic when a car seller try to sell me an accessory for my car that cost more than the car itself.

I hear you and its fine. I'm skeptical as well. We have families and kids to feed so no body want to pay more than they should. But I also dont think that your analogy is fair either.
If used lenses are considered a car, then what does that make the camera? I consider used lenses like tires...they make the whole car work, but can be swapped out for a new set and different feel. If you want a whole new look, then you buy a set of Rims (aka the CineMorph filter) and yes Rims cost more than the tires usually.

And there are plenty of streak filters available for $300 and up! Ours is half that but does twice as much. None of them are on rotating frames and create vertical bokeh.

Can you please make one for the upcoming Fuji X100 rangefinder? :)

I had to sell my entire HDSLR rig and my beloved Isco 36 due to financial crisis...and the X100 is going to be be my only piece of photography gear for a long time.

I believe it it 49mm front threads, crop size sensor, 23mm fixed front lens f/2 speed which is roughly a 35mm lens equivalent in 35mm format, etc.... :)

Hi,
I am a film student, and I was interested in shooting my next film with the anamorphic look.

I will be shooting it on the Panasonic AG dvx100a

Can I use your filter with that camera?

Hello

What anamorphic adapter will give the best result between the 16-9 century optics and the cinemorphic ?

Thanks

We're working on this...It seems that camera has a fixed focal length that might be just a bit too wide for our current filter, so it might have to wait until we develop a version for wider lenses.

We're not huge fans of the 16:9 anamorphic attachments like the Century Optics and Panasonic LA7200. The results dont scream anamorphic enough for us (still looks spherical in the end as the bokeh isnt stretched enough) and the Chromatic aberation is horrible to look at. It feels like the old video days of the 80s and 90s have come back to haunt us when I see results from those attachments.

So, obviously you're not going to get an unbiased answer from us as to which to choose, but I can say for certain that the CineMorph filters will give you more of an Anamorphic / CinemScope film look in the end and they do not cause Chromatic aberation.

If you're looking for flares only, then maybe the 16:9 century or LA7200 is for you as they do flare nicely, but its hard to watch how the rest of image gets soften and blurred so badly.

Hmm, not sure yet. We'll have to get back to you on that one. It was designed and developed for SLR lenses but I'm sure it could work on the DVX at some zoom point. Maybe not on the wide or the tight side, but somewhere in the middle I'm sure it'll work.

thanks
when will you have the "elite"one whith better glass?
I would like to see a short or music video shoot whith the cinemorphic.

Well, we're headquarted in the DC/Maryland area, but we've been working on a big production down here in Palm Beach and Miami. We also have projects and production partners in LA and NY as well.

What school is in this area that offers that kind of course? We've been here in PBC for a short time, but always looking for help on our productions.

This looks pretty interesting.

If you guys are ever in DC doing some tests I'd love to see this thing in action, maybe set up a test shoot or something. I'm located in Richmond, but it's not to far to hop on up to DC.

Let me know!

well this is exactly what i was looking for....i'd been looking at timurs one but since that isn't around yet this looks like it'll work a treat....

and not too expensive either....

one question though, can you adjust the amount of flare?...cos I looked at the sample clips and some bits seemed to have more than others....or does it go on the intensity of the light?...

i'm buying one regardless just interested to know...

Well I'm really considering getting myself one of these! It's looking great!

The lenses I would use it on have 55mm and a 58mm filter size, so I'm guessing I should get the 67mm version? I guess that version has a 67mm filter size and I would need a step up ring for both?

No problem! Not sure when we'll be back home (as I like to call it) again but I'll pop in and let you know if its anytime soon.

No, sorry, its not adjustable. The streak element works of the direct intensity of the light source.

ghosts look bad btw!

I'm not sure what you mean?? Sounds spooky though!

Do you mean the reflection from the glass filter? If so, this is something we can't get around due to needing the glass in the filter for the streak element. Although, we're using a special type of glass that limits those reflections so it could be worse.

Definitely would recommend the CineMorph 62 for lenses like that. The vertical bokeh element is machined at a slightly smaller size for those types of lenses.

Yes, thats correct the 62 signifies a 62mm filter size (both front and back). The 67 signifies a 67mm and 77 means 77mm. You will simply need step up or down rings to use on smaller or larger compatible lenses.
