Cinemek G35: Does It Exist?

Yeah, I think so. Probably most noticable on the 24mm lens as I was at the absolute very edge of the circle inside the adapter - using only the LCD screen it was a little tough to see.

thanks for the input.

: )

Hey , what is your zoom level , just a hair beyond "the circle"?

Yeah - just inside a tad. Maybe I should sneak it in a bit more...

thoughts?

dmc

Well , we can get 48z on the EX1/EX3 i go in about 50 -52, but you will see that the vignetting on the corners will not be visible but the edges tend to bleed little bit creating a softness on the edge corners now this is outside the tv safe so no big deal really.

So Shoot a bright wall and test it out , remember the farthest you can stay out the sharper the image will be, have you seen how sharp it is when it zoomed out all the way? Also a little less light loss. You can also stay out a little and crop in in post a little too, we have to play around and share the wisdom, so we can get on with shooting the Epic!

Poor customer service.

Poor customer service.

We ordered a G35. It took forever to get the unit. We ran some tests. We were losing about 4 stops on it and had some focus issues. We returned it for repair or exchange and did not get a unit back. Six months later, many many emails and phonecalls we are still waiting. It is perhaps a good product, but we never had the opportunity to verify this.

Their customer service is exceedingly poor - the worst in fact. It not at all the kind of support and service you would want if you were considering this unit for any professional application. Boo to Cinemek.

I want to buy the G35 but I am worried about all the leadtime and communication issues. Some comments from Cinemek would be great.

We recently put together a communications log of our dealings with them and it is as thick as a book. I would look on their forum boards, you will see that their delivery and support issues are consistent with our experience.

If you are looking for a well supported device, I would look at some of the other adapters out there.

After waiting more than a year, Jonathan recently relieved me of my worries by promising some money back and promised a tracking number for my G35 the middle of August.

Then weeks later, after still no sign of any tracking number, I contacted him again. It hadn't been shipped. It was then promised the first week of September, along with a tracking number.

It's now almost the end of September and there is still no sign of any tracking number. I've just sent another email. This must be my 40th email to this company.

I'm just worried that because Jonathan has offered money back on my order, it's now going to take even longer. Money isn't the issue any more - I've waited over a year and now need this device urgently for projects.

I seriously need this yesterday.

The day I get this in my hands I think I will eat my hat.

More than a year? Seriously?

Cinemek's site currently states:
"NOTE: There is currently a 3 Week lead time for shipping on all orders."

So there is either a major issue going on with your order specifically - or that claim is overly optomistic (to say the least).
Personally, I would request a full refund and find yourself another adapter.

Just my two cents.

It certainly is a serious issue in dealing with Cinemek and their G35 adaptor. After six months of hardly answered emails and broken promises, we've had to turn this over to collections.

Honestly, I would read over these concerns very carefully and consider if you can bear their lack of responsiveness and service...not to mention the tying up of your money. If you are a professional shooter of any kind, I would look elsewhere for an adaptor.

After waiting more than a year,

Jonothan is more concerned at replying to his storyboard app customers rather than his g35 customers.

You have got to be the most patient person ever. If this was me I'd be banging heads and demanding money back after 6 months.

Geez get the guy his g35 already. I hope he's not modelling his business on the guy that did those carrion monitors. "Good guy" gets thrown around alot but your actions speak louder than words.

It's a shame, because everything I've seen is that this is a top notch product... but it doesn't matter how good it is if you never get to use it.

I can't say anything bad about my experience with Jonathan Houser. We've long had good communication and his service revolving around the G35 has been plenty satisfactory. Sadly, it seems others have not had anything near my experience. And this is most unfortunate. Not to mention that the G35 is a GREAT product.

Hello Everyone

Hello Everyone

We are actively working to resolve these production/shipping/refund issues. Our machine shop has gone under with a fair amount of our capitol invested. Please email me directly at (jon) (at) (cinemek.com) if you have any questions.

Our machine shop has gone under with a fair amount of our capitol invested.

Does this mean that there will be no more Cinemek adapters made, or will production just be delayed until things get sorted out?

I am saddened by this story, but I'm still furious because I purchased back in September 2008 and there are many people who have reported receiving their G35 well after my order date. Was my order over-looked or something? I seem to be the longest waiting customer by far.

I ordered the G35 because its the only adapter I've seen that I like the bokeh from. Buying another brand just isn't a consideration for me. I've put projects on hold waiting for the adapter to arrive since over a year ago.

Not only did I order it over a year ago, I waited a long time before that to actually be able to order. I've seen many people have them, but I'm now especially upset that despite my order, it seems I've missed out and will probably never get one, and all my waiting around has been for nothing.

dang, get your money back asap, bokeh with light loss of of up to 3 stops being reported is not something to delay projects for, especially now that the canon 7d and panasonic gh1's are out. which have real bokeh, not simulated renditions of camera bokeh like these adapters do.

Bokeh with tosn of aliasing and low true resolution is a bit like a very pretty girl with an STD.

Are you saying we need to put condoms on when using DSLR's? Maybe that's why some people still call them V.D.-slr's.
