CineForm

What is the difference betwen Prospect HD- Edit Bundles and the Prospect HD-Ingest/Edit Bundles?

Prospect HD Edit assumes your sources are all HDV, P2 or disk based, such that everything is converted to CineForm Intermediate AVI. Prospect HD Ingest adds HDSDI capture support for real-time compression into CineForm AVIs directly from HDSDI sources. Both products allow of HDSDI mastering/output. So if you source is on HDCAM or D5, etc., you need Prospect HD Ingest with an AJA HDSDI card.

Mr. Newman, I'm pretty sure that Cineform is going into my budget for the Canon XH-A1.

The sale of your companies product is 99% due to your appearances and communication on these boards.

thank you

Question: I can't really afford Aspect HD at the moment. I want to convert mxf files to avi, to be used in Premiere Pro 2.0

Will Connect HD suffice for this?

Thanks

I strongly advize you to read all the posts of this thread if you realy intrested in Cineform, as well visit their site. The sort answer to your question is that that ConnectHD will do the job you are asking for, but if you realy want to use PPRO2 with rreal time performance you should go with AspectHD. All this from a happy CineForm/AspectHD costumer !

Thanks Andreas.

Yes that is correct, Premiere is very much enhanced by tools in Aspect HD which Connect HD does not have. You should try Connect HD for 15-day (free download) and see if it will be sufficient for you.

Yes, all the adobe apps support CineForm files, plus any Windows app. that welcomes third party AVIs (i.e. most.)
Thanks David!!

ALL companies should have superb customer relations / service like you and your team at Cineform provide. It shows that you truly do care...no matter how trivial the question may seem.

Thanks again.

Ok. Cineform question for you David. I own Cineform Aspect HD and I use it with both p2 files and HDV files.

I have a secondary monitor hooked up to my PC and I have the hardware overlay set to display fullscreen on it. When I use Cineform in Preiere pro 2.0 and tell it to enable overlay, it works but the resolution is limited to 1024x768 with acceleration disabled. If I enable acceleration it drops to 800x600. This monitor is capable of 1920x1440. But the overlay doesn't even approach that. I tried using Premiere's built in feature to display on monitor and it uses the native resolution. So I see the clip "closer" to it's actual resolution. But Cineform doesn't behave this way.

Is there a setting or a config file somewhere where I can tweak this? I am using an ATI card with latest drivers. Perhaps Premiere bypasses the overlay surface and draws directly on the 2nd monitor. Your process utilizes the overlay so perhaps it is a limitation of the overlay itself.

So....I guess I am asking if I can get full res preview using Cineform Plugin for Premiere Pro 2.0 out to an external monitor. Can I?

Thanks.
Marty

It seems to be a limitation of your overlay surface. Unfortunately it is tricky to list which graphics cards have particular overlay characteristic, yet yours seems low, most should do at least 1280x720 these days.

New for all. Aspect HD was just update to version 4.2.3, a few fixed and enhancement, but mainly it fixes a random and annoying hang in mediaplayer, so it is a good upgrade for all.

Any reason why the update says that it is 4.23 build 71 but when installed it says that it is version 4.22 build 70 (not 69 like the last update was)?

Code is new, forgot to bump the master version number (other than in the readme file.) Will fix that, yet the download you have is fine.

So how does this work if you have an HD monitor hooked up via component output to a HDTV? Would that also be limited by the overlay surface? So if I hooked up a 1920x1080 LCD via component I might still only get 1024x768?

So, its you causing the hang in media player! I didnt relate it to cineform because it started a bit after installing Prospect. (Dont tell me prospect doesnt cause the hang, hu...)

It is was an issue in only the last few versions of PHD only, you will need build 87 or greater. So it might not be us ;)

Hi David,

I have noticed viewing photos at your blog that you use two HP 2335 23'' monitors. Any comments ? Can you color corect HD on this and how do you calibrate them ?
I know that CC HD requires HD monitor, just hoping that someone will come with a magic trick or something... just hoping !

best
Andreas

Those HP 2335 monitor are nice, color is pretty good but we haven't calibrated them. A calibrated LCD monitor is sufficient for CC work. Note: we use an AJA card for output (we use an HD-SDI to DVI convertor on the second HP 2335 monitor.)
