Cineform neoscene?

Hi -

I was recommended by B&H to use cineform neoscene to change the HMC150's AVCHD files to quicktime. (Currently I am simply using log and transfer to turn these files - I assume - into prores, but apparently this makes teh file sizes considerably smaller).

Have people used this solution?

I know there are other programmes which are cheaper.. mpeg streamclip for example?

Any thoughts on this would be great.

Thanks!

I use it on a Windows based pc so I'm using AVI's.
My Neo AVI's are much larger than the original AVCHD files.

I never used FC but I thought the log and transfer did the same thing as transcoding with Cineform...

you may well be right; although cineform turns it into a quick time file (.mov), FC into prores - I am not sure what the difference in file size would be.

I use Neoscene on my Mac and drag the files into AE or any other editor like FCE for that matter. Works great and the quality is good!

Thanks. But before I shell out $129 for yet another programme, does it do anything in particular that I can't do in FCP7?

I am trying to get a sense of what benefit I would get from Neoscene... I currently log and transfer my clips, I am assuming it is going into Prores.
