Cineform and DV RACK workflow?

Hi guys!

I've got the latest version of DVRACK HD2 on my new Core 2 Duo laptop and I have an external G_Tech GRAID 500 Gig drive to record to.

Now I'm trying to figure out workflow.

My understanding, when I bought DV Rack, was that It takes the footage from the firewire out and removes frames on the fly to create a 24pn emulation.

I also seem to remember that Cineform has worked with DV Rack for a while now.

Taking some time this morning to figure it out and at a glance I don't see anything linking Cineform to DV RAck on either the cineform site or the Serious Magic site.

Am I mistaken about these products working together?

Is there a workflow posted?

Thanks!

MIKE

I think cineform an dv rack don't exactly integrate the way you're thinking. I use cineform as a two step process. When I'm ready to import to a timeline THEN I convert the clips to cineform.

So I would shoot the video like normal, capturing to the hard drive with DV Rack and then using Prospect HD to convert it to 10 bit square pixels and 24p?

What do you use to edit? DV Rack 2.0 HD records to AVI or QT containers and comes with the Serious Magic DVCProHD Decoder, so even NLEs without their own DVCProHD support will be able to open the files recorded by DVRack. Cineform isn't needed.

I use Premiere. I am still trying to find out if DV Rack can do the stuff that Prospect HD can do.
Cineform Prospect HD can confirt 960 x 720 footage and either convert it to 720 x 1080 square pixels or uprez it to 1920 x 1080, square pixels in it's proprietary 'lossless' codec.
Prospect can also upconvert 8-bit color to 10-bit, so you can have 10-bit 4:2:2 color.
Cineform can encode quality settings from "Low" to "Film Scan."
Cineform can convert frame rates from 24p (not native) to any number of frame rates while maintaining audio pitch.
Cineform can flip the image for the M2 lens adapter and de-interlace 1080i and DV sources (from other cameras).
I'm totally sold on Cineform. I also own Raylight, which is an excellent program as well, and DV Rack -- which I am trying to learn about this weekend.
Dv Rack seems to be a great program, but I don't know it yet or the workflow. I love that I can record without changing P2 cards and, with that, I can shoot all my chroma-key footage in 1080p without worrying about running out of storage space!
I'll be happy if I can capture the footage in DV RACK without losing any quality and then converting it in Cineform to 720P 10-bit square pixels and for my greenscreen stuff: 1080P square pixels and 10-bit color. Then it's ready for Premiere and After Effects.
