Cine gamma control on FX1?

Hi,
i used DV film maker and Premiere Pro 1.5 to play around with downloaded m2t footages last night, and oh boy, what kind of super computer do I need for HDV? This thing takes forever to do anything with my half way decent computer. What kind of super computer do I need :'(

I also have some questions for FX1 users.

1) Does it shoot native 16:9 wide screen? or electronically squeezed 16:9 like PD170?

2) Will down-converting 16:9 HDV to SD, will it automatically create letter box? or regular 16:9 without letter box?

3) Can you apply 'Cine Gamma Tone' to regular SD shooting mode?

4) Is there a picture quality differnece between down converting HDV to SD, and regular SD shot by FX1?

Thanks,
Chi

Editing a native transport stream is *extremely* slow. That's why Cineform introduced their ConnectHD product and their Cineform wavelet codec -- it speeds up the decompressing dramatically, so that on a hyperthreaded 2.8ghz system you can get at least one stream of realtime playback. Look for the cineform plugin for premiere pro.

It has genuine 16:9 CCD's.

I believe it can do it both ways.

Yes.

Interesting question. I don't think we tested that. Don't know. I wouldn't expect there to be a difference, I would ASSUME that it's identical (because both involve a conversion to DV) but that's just an assumption, it doesn't mean anything.
