cine dolly wheels

I think they recommend 1" PVC pipe. We used this it worked OK, but we had some problems.

We built some notched rail supports out of 2x4's, 2' wide slats so we could put the rails on uneven surfaces. The problem is that 1" PVC, even the thick-walled stuff, is pretty flimsy (particularly if you have a heavy tripod, camera, and the operator riding on the dolly). The dolly would sort of dip when it hit the spots in between the supports.

So, in our case, I think we'll be trying out some fatter/thicked PVC. Steel pipe would be rock solid! The dolly also works nicely without pipe if you are on a smooth surface.
