Cine D or Cine V. All suggestions welcome.

So I've gone back and forth. Love the smoothness of Cine V and then do my Magic Bullet and Colorista tweeks after and it holds up great. But I would like the extra latitude which is really a difference with Cine D. Last 3 projects went out to DVD but this current feature is hopefully going out to film. What do you guys prefer for overall picture and does the extra "noise" of Cine D bother you? I like to aggresively color in post so I think I'm crossing over to Cine D. Any warnings, pitfalls, tips or suggestions? Thanks in advance......

Feel free to share your basic scene file settings or just your certain deal breaking tweeks.

I own the HPX170 and HVX200 so different secret sauces in play...

Solomojo,

If you like to "aggressively color in post", I would suggest shooting with Cine D and lots of fill lighting. This will give you a "flat" image, without a ton of color but with low contrast. Bring up the Master Ped to +2 or +4, which will bring up the shadows out of the noisy area of exposure. You'll have a ton of latitude to work with, but you'll probably have to increase the color saturation.

Personally, I like to get as close to the final "look" as possible using the in-camera controls. But that hasn't kept me from shooting a heap of projects with the "flat" lighting I described.

Let me know how it works out,

thanks bike! will keep you in the loop. I've always shot cine V and gotten as close as possible but wanted to see if the extra latitude would gain me better image down the road...
