Roxsen FD to M43 adapter

Ciecio7 FD to M43 adapter

I'm thinking about buying one of these adapters, but I'm unsure which to go for. The ciecio7 adapter is twice the price of the roxsen one, but is it considerably better? My main concern is infinity focus, and one would hope that the ciecio7 adapter has bang on infinity focus.

So I'm just looking for opinions really. Has anyone bought one of these adapters? What are your thoughts?

This is an opinion. I have no experience with the Roxsen adapter. I do have three different mount adapters from Cieco7 that are all excellent. FD, LOMO and M42 to micro4/3.

Is the price difference worth it to you? Can't help you there.

If there's absolute bang-on infinity focus, then yes, it most certainly would be. :)

Do you mean that you want to crank the focus wheel to the end and have lens sit at infinity? I don't know. Don't work that way. I could do some tests later, but so long as the lens focuses to infinity, I'm happy, whether it is at the end of its focusing travel or not. But I will look to see if I can give you an absolute answer in the next few days.

Thanks, I appreciate your input. :)

I have the ciecio7 for my FD lenses and have used it successfully to infinity focus on the 50mm 1.4, 24mm 2.8 and a vivitar 70-205mm with and without an additional 2x matched teleconverter. The adapter is ROCK SOLID and crafted wonderfully. Very precise fit. Feels perfect to me. Don't have any experience with the other type.

Does it focus beyond infinity at all?

I used to think my Ciecio7 FD-m43 adapter had perfect infinity focus while my Jinfinance adapter overshot the mark a bit, but now that I have more old FD glass I know that it's all a crapshoot and there's no such thing as an adapter with perfect infinity focus. These lenses all have different tolerances, and some nail infinity on one adapter and not the other, while others are vice versa. I prefer the Ciecio7 because it's a single piece of metal with no moving parts, but the fact is they both work equally well as long as a given lens can hit infinity. In fact, one of my FD35/2's stops just short on the Ciecio7, which is why I use the other one.

I have a Fotodiox fd/m43 adapter, very much like the Roxsen but with an additional lock on the adapter. I like it, solid and not loose at all. The other adapter appears pretty big really. But it's a picture, so I have no idea.

I agree it depends on what lenses you have...My 24mm goes just to infinity and my 50mm goes a fair bit over both with the same roxsen adapter.

Hi Matthew I have one ciecio7 adapter i dont use anymore, if you interested I can give you good deal. send me pm.

Mathew,

A quick preliminary response from a very unscientific test. From what I can see on the LCD, I hirt infinity with my 50mm FD. I'll need to look at the files on a bigger monitor when I get back to the studio tonight. Hopefully I'll be able to give you a more definitive answer. But as shaveblog observes, that is one lens out of many. YMMV.

All of these lenses can be collimated to have precise rear focus and infinity stop, regardless of the adapter used. If done this with Zeiss, Minolta and M42 lenses with great success. It usually only requires a tiny screwdriver and a little bit of web research.

Ciecio7's adapter is probably the best made adapter around, and excellent value for money, particularly if you have a set of lenses in FD mount.
