Ciecio7 B4 mount to micro 4/3

Yup...I bought it and love it. I used it recently to shoot this pitch concept with our AF-100.
I've also used it with my GF-1. Solid product...good price.

I used a Canon J15x8B4 IRS SX12 BCTV 2/3" Lens w/2x ext with a SanDisk 32GB Extreme SDHC Memory Card Class 10 Rating 30MB/s Read/Write Speed.

Also a Singh-Ray's Vari-ND Variable Neutral Density Filter. Yes...you might ask why use the Singh-Ray's Vari-ND Variable Neutral Density Filter when you have the ND. I just love the idea of fine tune control with the Singh-Ray.

I am new to interchangeable lenses. Just now putting my kit together. I just need support for the lens, not the adapter, correct? One is listed for the af100 with a tripod bracket.

Can you post an image of the lens setup with the af100? I am concerned about rigging it properly with it's weight and the 2 pound limit on the af100 mount.

No special rig...I just attached it to the camera and it holds pretty solid like any other ENG camera I've used before. Here is a picture...Lens attached to AF-100 using the adapter...not rails or support. Handles real well.

I heard Abel Cine was developing a d-tap cable to power your servo from a battery. Do you have any info on that?

Sounds interesting...but I have not heard anything about it. I don't mind being all manual...Every ENG camera I've owned, I've always operated it in manual...but I understand if you want a solid smooth zoom you will need to control it.

By the way, you have comfortable rest the camera on your shoulder and hold it from the lens handle. I have a long NOGA arm that attaches to an IKAN monitor and can comfortable operated the camera.

Clear something up for me. I have a Fuji 15x8 with 2x extender. If I have to use the extender, I am now at 16mm on the low end and losing 2 f/stops. Does the AF100 sensor size mean I am again doubling to an effective wide of 32mm?

BTW, that seems like quite a heavy piece of glass and metal to hang unsupported off the AF100 without rail support. Really liked the demo video shot with the setup.

I've got the same lens (Canon J15aX8B4) collecting dust on my shelf. Back in the day, it was my favorite D35/50 lens.... I'm excited with the prospect of using it again.
I would experiment with the i-ring rear element diffuser all day.
Ditto what snp is asking, is it absolutely necessary to use it in the 2x extender mode ? This means the widest is 16mm BEFORE the crop factor , correct?
I would imagine you can loose some weight by loosing the zoom servo/control.

thanks - dlpark

Thanks for posting. Is it possible for somebody to make an optical adapter so a B4 mount lens could cover the sensor without the extender? I realize this would cost more but it would really be a nice combination with some sort of lens power.

very interesting....I would love to have a fast (sub 2.8) one lens solution on my af100, i'm currently mostly shooting with the canon 16-35L and 24-70L for run and gun doc stuff, and a zeiss 50 1.4 and 85 1.4 for interview stuff.

I own the J15x8B4 IRS SX12 as well, my only question is weather or not it is useable for doc stuff, I would think that once you put the doubler on, and then add in the crop factor, you'd always need to be at least 10 feet away from people to get them from then waist up right?

Thanks for the link grimrebes. I had sort of heard of the Abel product but did not put 2 and 2 together. Interesting but 2 stops, 2x magnification and $8,000 later seems like a hill to climb.

This was a PL lens and it was used for movies with super 35 film ARRI camera. The actual owner has changed the mount to use it (cropped) with a Thomson Viper, but it covers the AF-100 frame without any extender.
I have had this lens in my hands and it is big and heavy, but optically is simply wonderful. This is a real cine lens (keep the focus while zooming, no breath, f2.8 costant, 10x, geared focus and zoom etc).
There is only a problem, the weight.

Gary

The links on the first page of this thread are old, so those Ebay sales are over (that's why there's no 'Buy it now' etc).

Ciecio7 will get back to you. He often makes products in cycles (like OCT19 adapters) sometimes it seems he doesn't make them anymore and then his page will update with more products :)
