Chroma vs. Matrix and other Scene Files

Hi,
I've noticed that a number of scene file settings seem to do similar things and I was wondering if there is a big difference in the way some of them behave or if you can get the same "look" in different ways. For example, if you were on NORM matrix and you wanted a punchier saturation, could you get the same look by either (a) switching the matrix to Cine or (b) bumping up the chroma level. Also what about contrast and latitude when looking at both the Gama and things like Master Ped. If I want less of a milky picture, would I be better off sitching from Cine-D to Cine-V, or would it be the same to keep Cine-D and change some other settings like lowering Master Ped.
Thanks,
noah
