Chroma level, chroma phasing, matrix

Hi,

Newbie question. Could any kind soul explain the difference between these scene-file settings?

Here's my crass understanding (based on Googling and so forth). How far off am I?

Chroma level is to do with what programs like Photoshop call "saturation". Saturation is to do with (something like) decreasing the amount of black in a pixel. A "pixel" in this context isn't a physical thing (for instance, doesn't refer to a component of a display device), but is a sort of abstract package into which visual data is divided.

Chroma phasing is tinting all the colours in an image by increasing the amount of particular pixel components. Or is it crushing the colours towards some part of a colour wheel (much as one might crush blacks), or something else?

Matrix is to do with remapping the colours (like the Colorama effect in After Effects). Or is it more than just colours? Wikipedia offers: "In computer vision a camera matrix or (camera) projection matrix is a matrix which describes the mapping of a pinhole camera from 3D points in the world to 2D points in an image", but, on the face of it, this definition seems more applicable to things like aspect ratio than colour.

Any help much appreciated! The actual manual seems useless on the subject "Color phasing adjusts the color phasing", and I've watched Barry's DVD a few times without quite getting it.
