choppy playback?

hi, i recently taped a studio television project at my school. it was recorded in a deck (i need to check the brand and model, etc.) on miniDV.

in this deck and others like it, the video plays back normal. however, when i went to watch it back at home in my DVX, the playback- both the video and audio- were choppy. this has never happened to me before!

a friend claims he can watch his fine on his Sony TRV 950...

my only guess is that the deck is DVCam (i cant verify until next week), any other ideas and/or ways to get around this?

thanks in advance!

get a head cleaning tape and clean those heads ;)

or, try another tape, if the problem persists, then yes, its the heads.

( I did not have any red X on m yscreen when i had to have them cleaned, was quite frightening because it made the think that it was actually something other than the heads that was causing this problem, but surely enough after a few plays of a head cleaning tape, it was good as new.)
