Choosing Cameras

Hey everyone! I'm looking to start my own videography and am struggling with camera choices. I've been doing tons of research but still am not sure. I plan on doing weddings and what not so I'm looking at doing a 2 camera-1 man set-up. I've almost settled on the GH1 but I'd like a second stationary camera to run through important parts of the event (ceremony, etc). I've also been considering going with a Canon 7d or T2i and then getting a Canon HV for the second camera. Any recommendations or advice? I'm not running with a huge budget, which is why I've been considering the HV's.

Yeah just get a Canon HV with the GH1, or even get a second GH1 (body only is like $650.)

I should be able to blend the GH1 and HV footage pretty well then? Obviously two GH1's will solve that issue so I might just go that route.

There are better options than a 2nd GH1 as a stationary camera. The HV40 is currently available for $650 after rebate from B & H. The TM700, which should match fairly easily with the GH1, is under $1000. There are things these cameras can do which your GH1 won't, such as smooth zooms - essential for event/wedding work.

Keep in mind you'll need mics as well and either some kind of XLR adaptor or a seperate sound recorder. For weddings I'd recommend a shotgun mic such as the Rode NTG-2 or even the VideoMic, plus a wireless lav mic, as the absolute minimum. Don't forget a good tripod as well.
