Hey guys,

I got a few questions and was wonderin' if somebody can help me out... I have $1,500 and a DVX. From here, I have two options... And was wondering if somebody can help me out...

Option 1 - Use the $1,500 for cheap lighting, decent boom mic, and an anamaphoric adaptor. Question: If I went this route and used Instant HD, would that make a difference?

Option 2 - Sell the DVX to B&H or something, add out of pocket money to the $1,500 and buy the Canon XH A1, get a decent boom mic, and use the really crappy lights I have in my house.

I plan on shooting short films and send them out to see if I can raise a budget for feature versions, kinda like they did with Saw. Now for the feature, I'd make sure we rent out some CineAlta stuff or use 35mm camcorders so we don't have to munch our fingers in the end worried the transfer to film looks cruddy. I also wanna shoot documentaries, special events, and films by other people.

So if somebody can tell me which option I should shoot for, I'd love some advice.

Thanks guys...

It doesint matter what came u use hell even if it was a regular 300 dollar cam. What does matter is good lighting. I recomend you stick to the first option. In order to get a good picture all the time, you need to pump in alot of light. As for instant HD, I realy do not recomend it. As a user I tell you this from expierience. DVX and the canon are good choices; but without good lighting you picture would look much like from a hi8 cam (Like your uncle shooting ur birthday in the eraly 90's). Stick to good lighting always especialy if going out to film. I would use the money for a 35mm adapter with the lense in addition to what u have on option one. I hope this helps.
