Chinese Speedboosters - Any Experiences good or bad?

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences (good or bad) with any of the Chinese (cheap) speedboosters on Ebay? They seem like they may work and be cheaper than the Metabones units but do they work as well/not as well/not even close?

Any info would be much appreciated.

One of them (Fotodiox Vizelex) was so bad, they started advertizing it as having a "soft focus" feature.

I shot couple of frames on NEX5 with Nikon 17-35 with and without the Chinese speed booster.
Wide open lens at 2.8 (2 in the speed booster case)17mm FL. Obviously the wider one is with the speed booster.
See for yourself..

first...if you want some mounts...i.e. eos/m43, then the chinese are all you've got. If you want to see if the concept works....for 1/4 the price then $100 isn't a great investment. The RJ's are now being sold under a few different brand names on amazon and are shipped from the states instead of from china. As well, b&h is selling the metabones direct. Shipping from china is a pain. You never know when customs will rear their ugly heads. I wrote Mitakon a few weeks back and asked them if a fd/m43 version is coming and they confirmed. I think both the RJ and the Mitakon are relatively equal from all the tests I've seen, but personal-view sides on the RJ's side as slightly better. The biggest problems are the edge softness, which is also somewhat of an issue on metabones, and the blue-dot problem when you shoot directly into a light source. Since metabones doesn't have the blue-dot , most guess it's a coating issue. Personally I'm going for the RJ knockoffs on amazon....and if I really like how it works but not so much the quality, I'll probably go for the metabones later. My legacy lenses are all fd's.
