Hello and welcome to another exciting edition of "Adventures of Waiter boy in Chinatown"

(For those of you just tuning in, the Chinatown series is part of a scene of a feature film I am working on. The entire scene runs about 3.5 minutes.)

Previously, our Waiter was chased into a Chinatown alley after giving the Chinese triads some lip - and got his ass kicked. What the Chinese triads don't know is that our Waiter has been holding back all this time...because...THE WAITER HAS INCREDIBLE POWERS

He can make these fireball things come out of his hands like Dragonball and WHOOP EVERYONES ASS

In the near future, I plan to add the special effects - blue fire coming from the Waiter's hands and more flashy stuff. Hope you enjoy this edition of Chinatown! Again, props to Hillcity for those excellent steadycam shots!

This is some nice stuff again. Just tighten up a few shots. Shoot the missing scenes. Now if the story holds up as well as this. You got something here.

Duuuuuude! I don't care if I look like I'm tooting my own horn (you know I'm not). This stuff is HOT. I totally can't remember the biting cold and the infinite takes! It's like magic, and your editing and the color correction is amazing. I'm still loving the final shot  where "the waiter" gets ready to put the ki-bosh on "ponytail guy". For some reason, it just looks so filmic. I've been trying to recreate that feel for days. I can't remember the settings! And the stills are great. Excellent location too. Couldn't have prayed for better, dude 8) !

*my aunt just walked in (58 and from the Philippines). I showed her the whoopass clip and she was cheering! LOL! With each punch she was like "Good! Good! Good! Yes darling, those guys are bad! Good for you!"

I'm all about fight scenes :)

Did you use a 1/250 shutterspeed for the fight scene?
Is this shot in Vancouver Chinatown? When you did the chase scene, was that all guirella style? If we did something like that here without permission, we would be shut down in a snap of a finger by the police!

LoL. This is really good. I too, like the last part where he starts to beat on ponytail. Shutter-effect really enchances the scene. Too bad I don't live around you, I'd like to be in it!!! I got some moves too!!! nice to see someone making a kung-fu flix. mo power to u! can't wait to see the next clip.

F*ck art! Let's see some good Kung Fu!!! That was cool an fun as hell. I really think you have some cuts that are not perfectly tuned, but a lot of potential in the material!

Sweet thanks everyone! Yeap, Norm_Li guessed it right, 1/250 shutter near the end when Waiter boy goes berserk. I would have done 1/500 but not enough light in the alleyway...we also just went out and shot it and hoped for the best - thank God everything went well

Btw, this is Chinatown in Washington DC...its more like China-street, a single strip of chinese restaurants. Not like Manhattan's chinatown where its huge and extends for blocks and blocks...

Yeap, I do agree that some shots need to be cleaned up - the tempo of the scene is not quite right - I'm not feeling the beat yet - there is a certain rhythm to the bone crunching blows that needs to be figured out to really make the scene work - any ideas or suggestions?

Norm_Li - your website is amazing! How long have you been doing 3D stuff? I just got into Softimage XSI and am still learning the ropes - am doing special effects with it

Dakopod - probaly finish the project next year, well I have to finish the project next year!

That's really cool, man. Great job. I also do some 3D stuff (Lightwave), though I'm still learning.
