We are a marketing research company looking for a talented freelance videographer in the Chicago area to shoot interviews on a contract basis.
Types of Shoots:
- Brief sit-down interviews (1-3 hours)
- Documentary-style: following a subject through their daily activities with brief 'in-situation' interviews
- B-Roll (varies dependent on the project)
Requirements:
- Must have own equipment: 3 chip camera that shoots on mini DV tapes, tripod/monopod
- Demonstrated ability to shoot great video, with clear audio and appropriate framing
- Must be able to quickly set up for a shoot (many times we do not have time for a lighting set up)
- Must have knowledge/ability to capture 2 separate channels of audio: 1 wireless lavalier mic and 1 shotgun mic.
- Must be able to provide examples of your work
The ideal candidate is confident working with all the equipment including camera and microphones to minimize time spent on technical issues. We often conduct interviews in people’s homes and offices so the videographer must be ready to shoot within minutes of arriving and quickly asses what can be done with the available space and lighting. On other occasions we follow our subjects throughout their entire day so we need a videographer that can quickly transition from indoor to outdoor, standing to moving, to shooting B-roll as the day progresses. Some examples of the activities you may be required to shoot: shopping, golfing, running, skateboarding, weightlifting, social gatherings, computer screens, product reactions, etc.
