Re: Check out the deal I got:)

I did already pay for it, and I did it through escrow, and we already agreed on my getting the package having 5 days to inspect it before he sees a penny. So it's all secure, and was already shipped out. So we'll see what happens. The worst that can happen is that I'll get an empty box, but at least escrow will refund me. They said If I don't get it within 3 days, I get all of my money back.

Re: Check out the deal I got:)

Not to rock your boat, but escrow fraud is the #1 scam running on ebay right now.

Did you use ebay's own escrow service, or an outside service?

If it's ebay's, you may be okay. If the seller recommended the escrow service you're probably dead in the water.

Re: Check out the deal I got:)

I got a really bad feeling about this...

Re: Check out the deal I got:)

I wasn't aware that escrow scams are rampant nowadays. Makes sense now. Lately, I've been getting a number of escrow requests from buyers, and they are always for companies other than Escrow.com, the company eBay recommends. And these buyers are always from outside the US. Fortunately, I stuck with my gut feeling and reiterated that if I was to go with escrow, it had to be with Escrow.com. When I tell them this, I never hear from them again.

A friend of mine is also getting emails from people in Indonesia, asking if they can pay directly with their credit card, and that they are willing to pay well above the auction prices. He's selling a Sony camcorder. What's going on there? Can they not get cameras in Indonesia? And if its a scam, which it probably is, why Indonesia? They're all from Indonesia, these emails.

Eric, I hope everything goes okay for you. Let us know how it turns out.

Re: Check out the deal I got:)

Sorry dude, your $660 is gone. Notice how this guy is no longer a Ebay user, Ebay eventually catches on and kills the account.

If a deal is too good to be true on Ebay, it is. And like everybody here has said, escrow scams are the #1 scam right now.

Think about it, why would somebody give you $2000?

Re: Check out the deal I got:)

Hey I didn't give any names:) I might want it in my name though..I want to claim in for my business.

Re: Check out the deal I got:)

Not to worry guys..

I stopped the western union payment in time, got all my money back, and reported the hosting site about him. He's probably gone now. I hope they catch him next time. I found out that www.trad3r.com was registered on December 9th by a Janell Jorgensen, yet the site says they're in the UK and have been running since 2001. I called her and she had no idea what I was talking about. They had her name, address, and phone number listed. So I contacted gostway.com and hopefully they shut it down soon. I sure did learn a lesson about all this.

Re: Check out the deal I got:)

wow that was close Eric.. I am very happy you got that just in time. You woulda been the 2nd guy on our forum that got scammed by that.

Re: Check out the deal I got:)

I guess i'll just get the dvx100a when i have the money.. I can get it from my bros friend who works at the panasonic canada warehouse. He can get them at dealer price, which is around $4000 CDN. The only thing is that it has to be bought in his name. So if anything goes wrong with it, I have to bring it to him. Oh well, it's better than paying the $4950 from www.dvshop.ca:)

Re: Check out the deal I got:)

lol.. you might not of wanted to make that public :-[

Re: Check out the deal I got:)

always check out www.networksolutions.com

goto the "asis" link to see all the info you want about a website; most importantly when it was created!!!!!!!!!!

I almost was screwed on a similar gig regarding the Xl1s a long ways back. Luckily, I am smarter than the average scam artist.

Of course, I took a step back and investigated the DVX100. Just think, I could have n XL1s :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
