16 or not; very impressive work. Nice compostions and use of frame. Damn I love a moving camera.
That has got to be a filmmakers bedroom! When I was 16 I had the same Apocalypse Now one sheet! I also have a Revenge of the Jedi Poster (Yes, it says Revenge)
I've seen the full sized frames and the scenes do look great. But after seeing this short clip, I feel it is moving waaaaayyy to slow. 3 or 4 consecutive, locked-down scenes, with guy wallking in slow-mo is just too much for my short attention span.
I love it technically but do concur that the pacing should be brought up (possibly eliminate the umpteen shots of homeboy walking to the bench?) or is this a credit sequence? LOL
If it is a credit sequence, then it's all good for the most part. But the slow-mo did stick out at me. I love the footage, esp the moving camera, and the wide outside the house with the trees. Where is this being shot. Not in Sunny SoCal 8)
..ill just concur with the above somments on moving to slow, and whatnot. but i also have to say that you did a great job! congrats on the work so far. id love to see more. some things to tell the director to watch out for, is his sense of realism, and continuity though. i personnaly like the slow feeling of the beginning, but it can get a bit dragged out. as for the continuity, i couldnt help but notice that he leaves the door wide open when he leaves the house. but in the next shots its closed. ..lol nothing too major but it caught my attention because he didnt close the door behind him. an i thought. "is he leaving for his last time and just dosnt care, or what?" but then i noticed it was closed whn he was in front of the house. as far as a sense of realism, im talking about making sure his actions, or movement dont look too scripted. it should feel like were watching a real person, and not somone who is trying to move smoothly, and nice for the camera. and this is just peanut gallery critique here, but again i thought it was very nicely done overall.
I like the pacing for the most part... The only dragging for me is inside the house. Not many interesting images to sustain the shots there. Perhaps he could maintain the same time for the scene and do some more cutting... But it's very good either way!
We also have to remember that we are not laying on a big couch with popcorn and have the mindset to "watch a movie" right now. It may seem slow, but that is because we feel we need something more fast paced on the web. Our attention spans are much less on here. So relax a little bit, have a drink, pretend the day is done, and then watch it again.
