Re: Check out Pani's niffty 14'' LCD

Nifty but too expensive for a 640x480 VGA resolution monitor... :-/

Re: Check out Pani's niffty 14'' LCD

how does it stand up? in the field, i think i'd just rather have small CRT. neat idea, though.

Re: Check out Pani's niffty 14'' LCD

Could someone recommend a good field monitor that is somewhat affordable and can do 16X9?

Sony has very reliable ones... depending on the options you need then the price... They have the PVM9L2 (9 inches great portability trinitron CRT) for less than a 1K. Or the PVM5041Q (5 inches very portable) for less than 1.3K I know, I know... they ain't cheap for CRT beats the LCD in any game!

Re: Check out Pani's niffty 14'' LCD

Recently got a Panasonic TC-7WMS1 (16x9 7" LCD Monitor), and have to recommend to use any LCD monitor in the field very carefully and only as a composing aid. The monitor is mounted on a DSR-300, if I want to judge exposure and color I have to adjust to color bars every single time the camera or I move, find it very annoying and impractical. I usually use zebra or light meter to determine exposure, it is very tempting to trust what you see on the LCD monitor, and I'd have to say that unless you adjust (brightness and black level) continously it lies more often than not.
