Check out my short film Loveholstery

Its cheesy, twisted, little movie about a guy who finds "comfort" over a recent breakup in the arms of his favorite chair.

Shot on DVX100A on the 24P advanced setting and cut in Final Cut Pro.

It contains dirty language and other nonsense so get the kiddies out of the room or use headphones. 20 mins long.

Enjoy.

I don't think its slow at all. YOu get a sense of the character. I really enjoyed this, gonna spread it like an STD!!

This was very enjoyable. Didn't feel like an exercise like most short films I've seen. It just feels like a movie and I think that's the best compliment I can give it.

Only minor criticism I have is the narrative drags a little in the third act right after the double date scene (which was hilarious by the way). Could be a little tighter in the editing of act 3, but like I said, it's minor. Everything else was really top notch.

Really nicely done. Kudos!

PS: Your lead is a really solid actor.

Thanks for the kind words!

For the dolly we used a doorway dolly which was basically a platform with wheels and a handle. We put the tripod on it and pushed it around. Kind of limits the dolly shots as you cant really boom up or down but it works nonetheless. I'm a director who has to move the camera. Static shots make me crazy.

The budget was around 3k. We rented a lot of equipment and tried to pay just about everyone. The next film I make is going to be handheld with a very small crew. Only thing I'll pay for is rental of the camera. Lights will be built from the hardware store.

And finding good Actors is HARD. Being a good Director is even harder! I learned alot from this flick about working with actors that I will apply to my next film. I think I have a good sense of how to move/place my camera but I definitely look forward to improving my skills with Actors.

Okay I'm finished rambling for now.
