GH2 Check it out- Wirless Monitor

So i have a wedding I'm filming this Saturday and really wanted to try out my DIY crane. I noticed it pretty hard to frame with just the back LCD on the GH2 or GF2. So I came up with an idea of using the GoPro hero 3 (Black) and the GoPro app as a "wireless monitor". The app is laggy but if you a great idea what your shooting. Just using an adapter from the hotshoe to gopro and your good. Then ill be mounting an old android phone close to where I'm standing.

I think my plan for this wedding is to have 14-45mm zoomed tight and the go pro to shoot wide to get two different perspectives.

What you think?

I'm going to figure out a way to lower the quality to the phone to enable more steady streaming. has anyone seen anything for this app yet?

Thanks for looking

Interesting. I am wondering if there is a less laggy solution than the GoPro in this price range?

How laggy is the WiFi on a Canon PowerShot ELPH 320 HS ? ( it's only $200, has WiFi support, and wide-angle equivalent to 24mm on a Full-Frame 35mm )

well the hero 3 black has some great specs considering the size. ive been looking online for some "hack" on getting streaming to be more fluent

Yes, but every review I've read on the Hero 3 Black complains about how laggy the WiFi connection is.

The Canon compact I listed is half the price, shoots 24p, and I wonder if the WiFi is better than the GoPro ?

the nyrius aries pro ( almost same as Paralinx arrow) cost less than 250$ and send HD with no lag.
It seems better to take the real output from HDMI (don't know if it is possible from this camera) for a price that is way lower than a gopro
you wont't be able to send to a smartphone, but the receiver is very small.

I figured I would use the gopro because i already own one. I use the gopro for a ton of things beside weddings. I figure this would be a cost savings. The Gh2 does hdmi out but i figure i would give this a try.

I was keen on the GoPro until this WiFi laggy thing kept showing up in almost every review. I hope it can be fixed with a firmware update, as the GoPro is killer for the price. ( I would probably use it as a BTS / crash-cam most of the time )
