Cheapest way to multiple sd outs

Hi,
Can someone do me a big favor and recommend a cheap syncable solution to having multiple video outs (4 to 8)?

Perhaps a firewire interface, perhaps something that splits a sd/hd/vga signal into partitions... Maybe hardware from an old video wall thats relatively cheap and easy to find

I'm on a tight budget and quality isn't paramount.

I really appreciate the help.

Thanks, I checked those out.

What I need is something to split the image in to parts so that each out is a different part of the image. It seems that all of those amplifiers mirror the same signal.

Alternately, and preferably if the price isn't to high, a computer interface that will let me send out multiple. different video outputs at SD. would work.

Any thoughts?

Yes.

I'm looking for a cheap (at the expense of quality but not sync) alternative to the costly video wall applications...

Is there not a device similar to a multi output audio card that outputs analog sd signals instead?

Sounds more like a image splitter.

So for a 4-screen video wall, it would need to extract the 4 corners of a the video image into 4 seperate signals.

Now many screens are you looking to drive?

Yes, clarify please. If what you want is to output multiple copies of the same signal, a distribution amp can do that. If you want multiple outputs, each representing a portion of the overall signal, then you're looking at an image splitter.

Bump... anyone?
Sounds to me you need a security monitor splitter. (Do a google) POP into you local security video store they have many units , price i'm not sure on that is up to you, I used one recently for a live performance it gave one signal "BNC" out port, and to monitor all signals incoming from another port. the preview monitor port sound like what you're after.

They are know as multi-viewers and multiplexors. They're not cheap. The ones made for the security industry usually are multi-viewers and take multiple cameras and condense them down to one screen. This sounds like the opposite of what you are looking for.

You'll have to look for a used video wall processor on Ebay, or get a fast computer with multiple video cards, but typically you can't play a single video over multiple monitors. There are a handfull of companies that make scalable image processors too, such as Barco and Folsom (Blend Pro), usually meant for large seamless displays with multiple projectors.

Overall, not a cheap venture....

It is all prerecorded. It will not be realtime/live... does that open up any possibilities?

Stacking 6 of the same brand dvd player on top of each other and hitting play on the remote is not going to be reliable right?

I was hoping there was a firewire doo-hicky similar to and audio interface breakout box that could output multiple streams (something perhaps to facilitate a multicam editing setup)...

I'm really tryig to stay under $500 or $600.

That is in fact exactly what I was going to recommend.

Identical players should have similar spin-up speeds. One option is to hit play, then pause on them all - get them all to the first frame. Then maybe hit frame advance to lock them all in together, then hit play.

Other than that, you'd need multiple playout platforms locked together with a computerized controller using timecode to lock them. But that's WAAAY over your budget.

Unless of course you can find a video wall system on e-bay or elsewhere to suite your needs.

hmm... actually that might work... I hadn't considered that they didn't need to sync from dead stop, the pause-align-play bit might just work...

The content is music but I don't really care if they're a few frames off.

Now the hunt for the cheapest dvd players I can find.

Encode the video for each DVD with excactly the same transcode settings - constant bitrate if possible - that way the player's decoders will be running at about the same rate too.
