Cheapest Price

Hey Guys!

I am saving and selling stuff on eBay to try to get enough money to purchase the DVX100. What is the cheapest price I could get one for around here? I mean, how cheap would someone sell the original DVX on the Marketplace? Thanks!

1200 sounds too low but maybe you'll find someone looking to get out quick. save 2000 and see what you can find and spend the rest on accessories (or food... I'm hungry...)

$1200 might get you a USED DVX100A on Ebay, if you get lucky. I've seen USED DVX100B go for around $2000 on Ebay in the past few months, but I've also seen some DVX100A go for as high as $2000, which is kind of strange since the DVX100B is going for around the same price.

When shopping on Ebay, be careful, there are many people on there looking to scam people. If it claims to be a company, check out the reseller ratings. It might sound strange, but if I, personally see that the "company" is from Brooklyn, I just close the window, lol.

Take care,
Chris

agreed, save $2000 and you'll be able to choose from a pool of quality used DVXs rather than a junker for $1200 (might even be impossible to find one THAT low)

OK, how about $1500? I won't be able to purchase a $2200 dollar camera/accesories. I did say the original DVX, NOT the A or B.

Yes but why would you want a DVX when you could get the DVXA for a few hundred more. Seems kind of silly to invest so much money in a discontinued, USED camera.

Yes but I forgot to add that DVX100 is OLD, whereas the 100A is only slightly old.

I'm just saying, any DVX100 you find will probably be worn and tired, whereas you have a much better chance of finding a 100A that is, yea, a bit more expensive, but gives you the opportunity to find a camera that isn't nearly as worn and is inherently better than the DVX100?

You see what I mean?

If you only want to spend a grand on a nice camera, go with the HV20!

Don't go 80% of the way to cop out on a junker! Hold out for the prize, a quality camera, a quality investment! Why waste $1500 when for a few dollars more, you could get an awesome deal?!? Patience! Patience! It's worth it!

I got a used dvx100 here on the marketplace for just under 1500 shipped. I watched ebay for a while too and the prices there are all over the place, so it might be worth seeing if you can snipe a dvx100 for cheaper, or find a dvx100a at the same price. I decided that I would gain less from buying a new dvx100b instead of a used dvx100 than I would gain from investing the money in some accesories (nice mic, tripod, big greenscreen, etc) to go along with the camera. But I dunno, you might already have those.

Also, since widespread use of HD DVD (or blueray) is just around the corner (hopefully) I didn't see the point of plopping down that extra 1+ thousand for an SD camera which I will eventually upgrade anyway, when I could invest that money in accessories which I will serve me just as well for a long time.

Long story short, yes, if you're patient, you should be able to find one for less than $1500.

I'm thinking about saving, and taking my money to NAB 2008. That way, I can get the latest. Plus, they usually have discounts there.

OK. What do you guys think I should do? Get a used DVX100A? Get a (much cheaper) Sony VX2000? Wait for NAB? Wait for the DVX100B?

Papa - everyone knows all Panasonics should only be taken in the shower and not baths... Baths are for Sonys.

I'd go for the DVX100B VX2000 is 60i only right? Thats not going to be very filmic (not that the DVX or 24P gives an instant film look to everything). And the used A is probably going to be heavily used and harder to find due to its age. And NAB 08 is soo far away right now... So thats my reasoning. And if you want to take a bath with it then maybe you need to be seeking another forum...

The DVX100 is nice but if you only have $1200 you are a ways off.

I was just at best buy looking at the Canon HV20. For Around $1200 or $1300 you can get a nice set up. Wide angle, extrnal mic. HDV/SD 16:9, 24p. Not in the same class as the DVX100 but it seems a lot of people are getting it. Some even selling their DVX's.

I guess it depends.
